INSTALLATION

The do-it-yourselfer can see that the following information is all that is needed for successful installation. The following table presents the recommended rabbet depth dimension in relation to panel sizes

24" 36" 48" 60" 72" 84" 96"
24" 7/16" 1/2" 5/8" 11/16" ------ ------
36" ------ 5/8" 11/16" 11/16" 3/4" 13/16" 13/16"
48" ------ ------ 13/16" 13/16" 13/16" 7/8" 7/8"

Panels over 36" x 72" should be installed with bottom edge resting on sill and panel pressed against inside stop. Install neoprene filler tape between panel against outer stop, and then install bead of silicone (approximately 1/4" deep by 3/8" wide) sealant bead along surface of joint and against neoprene tape. Panel shall be cut to allow for proper expansion and contraction as specified by the manufacturer

To protect panel from excessive sealant smears, use paper back adhesive tape adjacent to the rabbet lines. Sash surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned with sealant or manufacturer's primer before glazing. Clean glazing slot in sash and edge of panel before installing

LIFTING OR HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS

Never lift a panel in the flat position. Always edge lift the panel in the same manner as regular glass and avoid as much bowing as possible. Store panel in this manner while waiting for installation. Do not lay flat. Do not store in HOT situations. Keep in mind that these panels being of acrylic and polyester components must 'cure". This is best in open air, and at the temperature that they will "live" in. So if the panel is to live in a hot southwesterly window, and gets to over 100, then Stain de Glas will not be cured until it reaches it's maximum temperature. So give it awhile, and expect a bit of odor while it is going through it's stages. Just ventilate the room with the odor. The odor is not poisonous, but it may be unpleasant to the individual’s senses. When the panels get to it's maximum temperature, it will no longer give off an odor
If the owner has a need to prevent this natural outgassing, please let the technical staff at Stain de Glas help you with specific coatings at minimal cost

Perma-Glaz

GLAS-OVERLAY

The GLAS-OVERLAY method can be used in exsisting buildings as an expedient and economical means of installing the panels. Also great for apartment dwellers or those who plan on taking their window with them where ever they may live.
